He was previously rumored, now John Cena has been confirmed to be joining the cast of the ninth “Fast and Furious” film.
Franchise star Vin Diesel hinted at Cena’s involvement back in late April, and now Universal Pictures has made it official, confirming the casting to Deadline today. Details of Cena’s character are being kept a secret for now beyond him playing a ‘bad ass’.
It’s expected Cena is effectively filling the hole left by Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs who is not involved in the new entry. Justin Lin helms the project, returning after sitting the last two films out, and Dan Casey is penning the script with him.
Filming gets underway this month ahead of the film’s release on May 22nd 2020.
