Apple has announced the first release dates for its original film slate following yesterday’s reveal that they plan to release films in cinemas for a few weeks ahead of a streaming release.
Anthony Mackie’s “The Banker,” Minhal Baig’s “Hala” and the wildlife documentary “The Elephant Queen” will all hit select cities nationwide before the titles are uploaded to Apple TV+.
Mackie and Samuel L. Jackson star in “The Banker” as unlikely real estate and finance moguls in the Jim Crow era. Bleecker Street will release the film for awards contention on December 6th ahead of an Apple TV+ debut in January.
“Hala” was a Sundance breakout hit in which a Muslim girl reconciles her family traditions with modern high school life. It will open November 22nd in cinemas via Greenwich Entertainment and will then come to Apple TV+ sometime in December.
Finally “The Elephant Queen” will open in theaters October 18th via A24, ahead of being a title available when the service launches on November 1st.
