Alec Baldwin has been confirmed to be cast in the upcoming “Joker” film at Warner Bros. Pictures with good indications via THR that he’ll play Thomas Wayne, father of Bruce Wayne and respected Gotham City physician and philanthropist.
The new take reportedly switches up the wise and gentle depictions of Thomas Wayne in previous screen incarnations – this version is said to be a “cheesy and tanned businessman who is more in the mold of a 1980s Donald Trump.”
Joaquin Phoenix leads the cast of the $55 million crime drama film which deals with the origins of the Clown Prince of Crime who serves as the main antagonist to Batman in the DC Comics titles. Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron and Josh Pais are also onboard for the film.
Todd Phillips helms from a script he co-wrote with Scott Silver. Cameras roll on the project on September 10th ahead of an October 2019 release.
