Aardman Planning A “Chicken Run” Sequel

Aardman Animations is partnering up with StudioCanal and Pathe to develop a sequel to Aardman’s first full-length film “Chicken Run” released in 2000.

Nearly twenty years later, the long-discussed idea of a follow-up is finally moving forward with Sam Fell (“ParaNorman”) is attached to direct and the original writers Karey Kirkpatrick (“The Spiderwick Chronicles”) and John O’ Farrell (“From Beyond the Grave”) returning to pen the screenplay.

The original stop-motion, claymation adventure tells the story of an American rooster who falls in love with a gorgeous hen on a British farm. The couple decides to run away from the farm, but they must first contend with the evil farmer who is intent on keeping them under her control. The chickens decide to attempt an escape.

Paul Kewley (“Shaun the Sheep the Movie”) will be producing and Peter Lord and David Sproxton executive producing. This comes on top of the “Shaun the Sheep” movie sequel due to be released next year.
