A while back, a rumor came that Rosario Dawson was reprising her role of Claire Temple/Night Nurse from the Netflix Marvel shows in the recent “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”.
The film opened a few weeks ago, but sadly no sign of Dawson or her character on screen, even as the actress confirmed the reports that she did film a scene in character alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.
Speaking at GalaxyCon, Dawson said she got very far along on the film before the verdict came down:
“I tell you my post was already ready with my behind-the-scenes, with my grandson wearing all his Spider-Man stuff cause he loves Spider-Man. Then I got the email, so yeah, I’m a reject of Spider-Man.”
The film’s writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers tell The Wrap it was for an early scene after Spider-Man battles Scorpion (Michael Mando):
McKenna: “Rosario Dawson is great. I wasn’t there for those discussions. But it was great. If anything, you have a movie that is two-and-a-half hours long, and it’s almost an embarrassment of riches with so many great characters and so many great scenes.”
Sommers: “The scene they did was a good scene. I think the only reason it’s not in the final cut was just that it was probably cut for time because it was very good.”
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is now in cinemas.
