“Man of Steel” and “Arrival” star Amy Adams has spoken about her role in Shawn Levy’s upcoming “Star Wars: Starfighter” film and confirms it’s not a particularly big role.

Whereas “The Mandalorian & Grogu” was a film continuation of an existing TV series, ‘Starfighter’ has been conceived as a whole new standalone film set after the events of the sequel trilogy.

Adams has second billing on the film behind main star Ryan Gosling and has been rumored to play the mother of Flynn Gray’s unnamed character.

Appearing on the SmartLess podcast, Adams said of her role:

“I had a very small part. I loved [getting to see all of the props], and I went to the creature shop twice – yeah, it’s so cool! I mean, I’ll talk about this, I’m sure, down the road, but like – I don’t know what I’m allowed to talk about, but I was so nervous the first day of working, like I forgot how to act.

I’m sure Shawn Levy’s like, ‘Amy, are you okay?’ And I’m like ‘No. I’m just not alright!’ I’m on a Star Wars set, and I, like, grew up on this. I have to now get out of my dorky fangirl place and go into my professional actress [mode], and combining the two was really hard. It’s so cool, you guys – it’s just so cool, [and while I can’t say much, I can say Flynn is so great.”

Reports have suggested Adams’ character sends her son to find his uncle (Gosling) who will transport him to the New Jedi Academy. Both Matt Smith and Mia Goth co-star as villains in the film while Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman and Daniel Ings co-star. Smith recently revealed an extremely rough cut of the film reportedly exists.

“Star Wars: Starfighter” is slated to open in cinemas next May.
