Filming on Mel Gibson’s two-part “The Resurrection of the Christ,” the sequel to 2004’s “The Passion of the Christ,” has reportedly wrapped.

A video has gone online on YouTube showing scenes from Day 134 of the 134-day shoot – production on the feature taking place over seven months at Rome’s famed Cinecittà Studios from early October until the end of April.

One face not returning is lenser Caleb Deschanel. Instead, cinematographer Robrecht Heyvaert (“Bad Boys for Life”) takes over as the film’s director of photography.

Additional photography has also taken place at Gravina in Puglia, and other Italian towns including Matera, Ginosa, Torre Guaceto, Brindisi and Craco.

Jaakko Ohtonen takes over the role of Jesus alongside Mariela Garriga as Mary Magdalene, Pier Luigi Pasino as Peter, Kasia Smutniak as Jesus’ mother Mary, Riccardo Scamarcio as Pontius Pilate and Rupert Everett as Abraham.

The project will be released as two separate films, a ‘Part 1’ and ‘Part 2’, costing $100-125 million each. A major amount of VFX will be used in the film.

“The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One” debuts March 26th 2027, while “The Resurrection of the Christ: Part Two” arrives on May 6th 2027.
