Two New “Tomb Raider” Games Announced

Crystal Dynamics

Lara Croft returned in a big way at tonight’s Game Awards with both the remake “Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis” and the brand-new “Tomb Raider: Catalyst” announced for 2026 and 2027 releases, respectively.

First up, “Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis” is a reimagining of the original 1996 first “Tomb Raider” game and will tie in the various eras of Lara Croft together. As Lara, harness your wits and athleticism to explore exotic locations lost to time.

From the jungles of Peru to the ancient ruins of Greece, the deserts of Egypt, and a mysterious Mediterranean island shrouded in myth. Traverse treacherous landscapes, solve deadly contraptions, and face lethal predators as you hunt for the scattered pieces of the Scion, an artifact of immeasurable power.

Meanwhile ‘Catalyst’ marks the next all-new entry in the “Tomb Raider” series – going beyond the events of 2018’s “Shadow of the Tomb Raider” with Lara Croft now in full treasure hunter mode like the original games. The character appears to have undergone a slight visual makeover as well with actress Alix Wilton Regan as the voice and motion-capture star portraying Lara Croft in both games.

The new entry unfolds across Northern India and is set in the wake of a mythical cataclysm that has unleashed ancient secrets and awakened the mysterious forces that guard them.

When the most notorious treasure hunters from around the world descend on the region, Lara races to uncover the truth buried beneath the fractured landscape and stop those who would use its power for their own gain.

As the ancient world collides with the present, Lara must decide who to trust among rivals and allies to prevent a catastrophe and protect a secret that could reshape the future.

While the ‘Catalyst’ trailer is pure cinematic, the ‘Legacy of Atlantis’ trailer includes gameplay as well. Further details on both titles will be forthcoming in the near future.
