“Alien: Earth” Scores A Season 2 Renewal

FX

FX has officially renewed “Alien: Earth” for a second season, the order coming alongside the show’s creator, Noah Hawley, signing a new overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television.

The second season will shift locations, with filming moving from the first season’s Thailand locales to shooting in London. Shooting will commence next year.

The show debuted to strong reviews from critics and audiences, though the cliffhanger ending has proven a bit more divisive. Hawley had previously indicated he’d already mapped out future seasons of the show.

His overall deal is said to be in the nine-figure range and follows on from Hawley having worked alongside FX for over a decade. John Landgraf, chairman of FX, says in a statement:

“It has been our great privilege to work with Noah for more than a decade on some of FX’s best and biggest shows, and we are thrilled to extend our partnership well into the future. Noah never stops surprising us with truly original stories— and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life as a director and producer as well as writer makes him extraordinary. We can’t wait to get to work on the next season of ‘Alien: Earth,’ as well as some equally exciting future projects in advanced development.”

Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, David Rysdahl and Adrian Edmondson starred in the first season.
