Filmmaker Steven Spielberg has confirmed he’s lured one of his most famous colleagues out of retirement for a gig.
On Monday, an event took place at the prestigious school of Juilliard where composer and pianist Nicholas Britell interviewed arts journalist, historian, and author Tim Greiving.
Grieving penned the newly released “John Williams: A Composer’s Life,” the first major biography of the iconic composer behind “Jaws,” “Star Wars,” “Superman,” Indiana Jones, “Harry Potter” and “Jurassic Park”.
During the event the school’s president Damian Woetzel, via musician Doug Adams on Twitter, reportedly said:
“The catalyst is John Williams, who is in Los Angeles doing what he does: he is working with Steven Spielberg on the next movie, and that is something to be happy about.”
Spielberg is currently working on a new sci-fi tentpole for Universal Pictures penned by David Koepp (“Jurassic Park”). Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor and Colin Firth star in the film opening June 12th.
Previously, Williams hinted back in 2022 that James Mangold’s “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” would be his last film, but then later said he wouldn’t rule out anything if something came up that he was greatly interested in. This would mark his first film since ‘Dial’.
