Brief Batman, Superman & Lanterns Updates

Warner Bros. Pictures

James Gunn has confirmed to Boba Talks that he just finished his fourth draft of the script for his “Superman” follow-up “Man of Tomorrow”.

Gunn has managed to churn out two drafts since the cover page photo he took of his second draft, which was dated September 22nd. He adds: “I just… I’m excited by it.” Filming on the project is slated to begin April 2026.

The same interview has led to several breathless, and unfounded, reports online claiming James Gunn is considering leaving DC Studios following a potential WBD acquisition because they interpret a self-interrupted line from him, most likely the words “If I say” or “If I said”, as “If I stay”.

Meanwhile, speaking at the “IT: Welcome to Derry” premiere, director Andy Muschietti and his sister and producer Barbara Muschietti were asked about the status of “Batman: The Brave and the Bold” at DC Studios.

Asked if the film is still happening, Barbara tells Variety: “The intention is yes, but we can’t talk about it.”

Andy added: “We have to wait a few, a couple of months to start talking about it” before realising that may have been giving away too much, saying: “I screwed it already.”

Finally, actor Aaron Pierre has confirmed he’s wrapped his scenes on HBO Max’s “Lanterns” series, telling Esquire:

“It was an enormous shoot. It was of a grand scale in every sense of the word. We’re all very proud of this and very excited. It’s been a long time coming for many fans and supporters.

I truly hope with all my heart that we make everybody proud and we make everybody thrilled that we did this, because we’re thrilled and we’re proud.”

“Lanterns” is currently targeting a debut on HBO sometime in 2026.
