Oscar-nominated Canadian First Nations actor Graham Greene, star of such films as “Dances with Wolves” and “The Green Mile,” has died. He was 73.
Greene passed away on Monday in Stratford, Ontario, of natural causes. The veteran actor leaves behind a long career comprised of performances in over 200 films and TV series.
His role as Kicking Bird in Kevin Costner’s “Dances with Wolves” landed him a best supporting actor Oscar nomination and boosted his career.
Other notable films included “Maverick,” “Thunderheart,” “Die Hard with a Vengeance,” “The Green Mile,” “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” “Transamerica,” “Wind River,” “Molly’s Game,” “Winter’s Tale,” “Casino Jack,” “The Shack,” “Snow Dogs,” and “Antlers”.
On TV his works included “Longmire,” “Defiance,” “Goliath,” “Wolf Lake,” “Murder, She Wrote,” “L.A. Law,” “Being Erica,” “The Outer Limits,” “Into the West,” “Numb3rs,” “American Gods,” “1883,” “Spirit Bay” and “Northern Exposure”. More recent appearances include “Echo,” “Tulsa King,” “The Last of Us” and “Reservation Dogs”.
He also received numerous accolades including several Gemini’s, a Grammy, the Earle Grey Lifetime Achievement Award, and is the recipient of the Order of Canada and the Governor General’s Award.
