Scott Working On “Battle of Britain,” “Gladiator 3”

Universal Pictures

FIlmmaker Ridley Scott is 87, but he ain’t slowing down anytime soon. Having released “Gladiator II” last year, he hit a stumbling block in recent times with his BeeGees biopic, originally to shoot this Fall, being delayed.

Scott already shot an adaptation of Peter Heller’s post-apocalyptic novel “The Dog Stars” earlier this year with Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Guy Pearce, and Margaret Qualley starring.

Now, in a new interview with The Guardian, Scott has revealed he’s switched gears and has set up a “Battle of Britain” project as his next feature to shoot. Penned by Joe Penhall, the film will deal with the 1940 air campaign in which the UK RAF took on the Nazis, with Scott dubbing it a full-on “war movie”.

Asked if a third “Gladiator” or another “Alien” film is in the works, he says: “Gladiator 3 is in process right now. Another Alien prequel – yeah, if I get an idea, for sure.”

He also touched upon some stories from his career. He confirms he turned down a $20 million fee to direct “Terminator 3” and is proud of that, saying “See, I can’t be bought, dude”.

He was also asked how close he got to designing the Daleks in “Doctor Who” to which he said: “I was a very good designer. I was in an office, sharing with a guy called Ray Cusick. Verity Lambert was the producer. Ray said: ‘What do you think?’ I said: ‘They look like inverted dust cans. I think they look fucking terrible.’ He said: ‘That’s what I think. But that’s what she wants.’ Guess what? They’re still here today.”
