Warner Bros. is getting its name back.
As previously reported, Warner Bros. Discovery is being split into two separate entities with the shift expected to be completed in mid-2026.
On the one hand is ‘Streaming & Studios’ which will house Warner Bros. Television, Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, DC Studios, HBO, HBO Max and Warner Bros. Gaming Studios, as well as their film and TV libraries.
On the other is ‘Global Networks’ which will include entertainment, sports and news TV brands worldwide including CNN, TNT Sports in the U.S., Discovery, and free-to-air channels across Europe, the Discovery+ streaming service and Bleacher Report.
Now, Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed that when they launch, ‘Streaming & Studios’ will officially be called ‘Warner Bros.’ while ‘Global Networks’ will be called Discovery Global.
Warner Bros. will be led by president and CEO David Zaslav, currently president and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery.
Discovery Global will be led by Gunnar Wiedenfels, currently CFO of Warner Bros. Discovery, who will serve as President and CEO.
Various execs are remaining in place following the split with Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy still running Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group, James Gunn and Peter Safran running DC Studios, Channing Dungey running the TV group, Casey Bloys in charge of HBO and HBO Max, and JB Perrette in charge of the streaming and games division.
