The two biggest VOD rivals – Amazon and Apple – are teaming up to boost their respective SVOD services.
Later this month, Apple TV+ will reportedly become available via Prime Video in the U.S. as an add-on subscription for $9.99 per month.
The service joins Prime Video’s collection of more than 100 add-on subscription options in the U.S. – including Max, Paramount+, MGM+, Crunchyroll and more.
Doing so allows customers to “personalize their streaming experience within a single app – avoiding the need to download additional apps or engage in separate billing systems.
The deal allows users to access Apple TV+ series like “Slow Horses,” “Ted Lasso,” “Silo,” “Foundation,” “Severance”, and more through the Amazon Prime Video app – bypassing the need for the Apple TV+ app altogether.
Apple itself similarly offers third-party video subscriptions through its Apple TV Channels feature, but Prime Video is not currently available as an Apple TV Channel.
Both companies have deals in place for their media players – Apple TV+ showing up on Amazon Fire TV units, while Prime Video apps are available on Apple TV 4K boxes.
