Activision has announced that they won’t be adding any of their titles to Xbox Game Pass until sometime next year.
Right now, the regulatory approval of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard is nearly complete with the deal expected to close as early as next week.
Whilst the company does plan to make its games accessible to more players around the world, getting their titles out on Xbox Game Pass isn’t going to happen quickly.
This is especially true for their recent “Diablo 4” and the upcoming “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III,” so those hoping for a Day One release of COD:MW3 on Game Pass – it ain’t happening. In a Twitter post they say:
“It’s awesome to see anticipation building for Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® III. As we continue to work toward regulatory approval of the Microsoft deal, we’ve been getting some questions whether our upcoming and recently launched games will be available via Game Pass.
While we do not have plans to put Modern Warfare® III or Diablo IV into Game Pass this year, once the deal closes, we expect to start working with Xbox to bring our titles to more players around the world. And we anticipate that we would begin adding games into Game Pass some time in the course of next year.”
Those last few words suggest you shouldn’t expect a flood of titles in January either. Yet rumors are continuing to swirl that a bunch of games will be added to the Game Pass service as soon as the deal is finalized.
