Gaiman On “Good Omens,” “Sandman” Status

Amazon Prime, Netflix

With the writer’s strike now over, writing on film and television projects can officially resume with networks, studios and streamers all likely relying on familiar series for the near future rather than developing something new.

That’s good news for Amazon Prime Video’s series adaptation of the Gaiman/Pratchett novel “Good Omens” which recently finished its second season on a cliffhanger teasing a third.

A third season has not been officially greenlit by Amazon yet, but according to series creator and author Neil Gaiman, work on the scripts will be getting underway soon.

Speaking on Bluesky (via Collider), Gaiman reportedly confirmed he has been hired to write Season 3 and, for now, he is the only writer attached to the scripts for the new season.

Gaiman previously teased the third season would encompass a story that he and the late Terry Pratchett plotted years ago with the second season having served as connecting tissue between the direct adaptation of the book in the first season and his potential third one.

Gaiman also offered an update on the status of “The Sandman Part 2” over at Netflix. Responding to a question on Tumblr, Gaiman says they had shot two weeks of the new season before the strikes closed it down. Once the actor’s strike is over, Gaiman says they hope to start filming again right away.
