Max Expanding Warners 4K UHD Content

In just a few hours, HBO Max will become Max. Whilst many debate the pros and cons of this shift, one big change coming with the shift has been announced today.

Warner Bros. Discovery has revealed the new Ultimate Ad-Free tier will massively expand the amount of 4K UHD content – delivering approximately eight times more content at that higher resolution than HBO Max. In addition, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos will be made available for select content and devices.

Sudheer Sirivara, Global Technology Platform, Warner Bros. Discovery says in a statement the company has implemented more new technology workflows allowing them to release more 4K content at a faster rate.

The result is at launch tomorrow, Max will offer more than 1,000 films and episodes in 4K with more added every month. There’s also “enhanced formats, including 60 fps content”.

The press release adds that all Warner Bros. movies released this year and going forward will be available in 4K UHD when they arrive on Max following their theatrical windows.

4K scripted series will include “And Just Like That,” “Avenue 5,” “Betty,” “Big Little Lies,” “C.B.
