“Beef” Has A Three Season Plan

Netflix

Lee Sung Jin, the creator of Netflix’s highly acclaimed new dark comedy-drama “Beef,” says the series has a three-season plan.

Steven Yeun and Ali Wong star in the series – he’s a down-on-his-luck contractor, and she’s a small business owner. The two strangers’ lives converge after they’re involved in a road rage incident.

Over ten episodes, their lives become increasingly entangled as their feud consumes them. A24-produced the series, which hails from Jin (“Silicon Valley,” “Tuca & Bertie”).

Speaking about long-term plans for the show, Jin tells Rolling Stone this week:

“I wanted it to have a conclusive feel [for Season One] just in case, but there are a lot of ideas on my end to keep this story going. I think should we be blessed with a Season Two, there’s a lot of ways for Danny and Amy to continue. I have one really big general idea that I can’t really say yet, but I have three seasons mapped out in my head currently.”

Joseph Lee, Young Mazino, David Choe, Patti Yasutake, Ashley Park, Mia Serafino, Remy Holt, Maria Bello, Justin H. Min, and Alyssa Gihee co-star in the series which holds a 99% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and is pulling in amongst the best reviews of any new TV series this year so far alongside the likes of “The Last of Us” and “Poker Face”.

Despite the apparent long-term plans, the series is reportedly seeking Emmy Awards consideration as a limited or anthology series instead of a comedy.
