“Return of the King” Gets More Showtimes

New Line Cinema

Due to overwhelmingly popular demand, Fathom Events has announced today it will be adding more dates to its recently announced theatrical re-release of “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King”.

Previously the film was set for screenings on this Thursday, April 13th and next Wednesday, April 19th. With both those dates sold out, participating theaters have now opted to host an entire week of showtimes for the legendary film.

New dates have been added from April 14th-18th as well as April 20th, effectively letting the film run from this Thursday through until next Thursday in U.S. cinemas.

Tickets are now available at Fathom Events website or at local box offices, and each screening of the film is set to feature an exclusive introduction by star Elijah Wood.

Originally released in 2003, the film marks the finale of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of the novels by J.R.R. Tolkien. The original film was a critical and box office smash, earning more than $1 billion at the box office winning eleven Oscars including Best Picture.

The screenings will be of the ‘Extended Edition’ version of the film which clocks in at a runtime of 260 minutes.
