Earlier this month, the Disney+ service added the first half of the third season of acclaimed Australian kids show “Bluey” to its U.S. library – bar one episode titled “Family Meeting”.
The absence of the episode drew enough sharp criticism from the streamer’s user base that they’ve now added it back in. It turns out the episode’s fart-centric plot did not initially meet Disney’s broadcast standards.
The series follows a family of red and blue heelers who live in suburban Queensland, Australia. Launching in 2018, the show has been a massive critical and commercial success in Australia, and traveled globally.
The episode in question sees the titular Bluey accuse her dad, Bandit, of ‘fluffing’ (or farting) in her face. This prompts her mother, Chilli, to lead a faux trial to determine who’s telling the truth.
The series airs on Disney Junior in the United States which is where the episode couldn’t be broadcast. When the third season first half was moved to the Disney+ platform, it again excluded the episode. A source tells Disney fan blog Pirates and Princesses:
“‘Family Meeting’ will roll out on US platforms soon. Some of the Bluey content did not meet Disney Junior broadcast S&P in place at the time the series was acquired. Now that it is rolling out on other platforms, it is a great opportunity to reevaluate which is what we plan to do.”
This marks the second “Bluey” episode not to air on Disney Jr. or Disney+ in the U.S., with the other being the second season’s episode “Dad Baby” in which Bandit pretends to be going through childbirth.
A notable TikTok star, world.shaker has found seven further single scene edits to the show’s third season – mostly involving bodily functions.
