Following the success of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” films, SEGA is set to turn its iconic arcade beat ’em up game franchise “Streets of Rage” into a feature film.

“John Wick” creator and “Nobody” scribe Derek Kolstad penned the script on spec and based on the 1991 side-scroller which follows former police offers who battle a crime syndicate. Multiple sequels followed up with a fourth official title released in 2020.

“Sonic” films producer dj2 Entertainment and “The Equalizer” films producer Escape Artists will produce the movie.

This marks the second adaptation of a game to involve a “John Wick” alum, the other being those film’s director Chad Stahelski who is helming the film adaptation of “Ghost of Tsushima” for PlayStation Productions.
