“Sing Street” and “Once” director John Carney is set to direct the untitled Bee Gees biopic at Paramount Pictures, GK Films and Amblin.

“Gladiator” and “Skyfall” scribe turned “Penny Dreadful” creator John Logan has been hired to write the script. Graham King, Elisabeth Murdoch, Stacey Snider and Jane Featherstone produce.

The band, born in the UK and formed whilst in their youth in Australia, remains one of the biggest-selling groups of all time, selling more than 220 million records.

Their popularity exploded after they wrote songs for the 1977 film “Saturday Night Fever” which fueled the popularity of disco and led to one of the top-selling albums ever.

Sole surviving member Barry Gibb is said to be very involved in the narrative film and will serve as executive producer. The narrative film follows in the wake of Frank Marshall’s acclaimed documentary about the band released in late 2020.
