ABC has renewed its veteran dramas “The Rookie” and “The Good Doctor” for the 2022-23 TV season.
The Freddie Highmore-led “The Good Doctor” will score its sixth season while the Nathan Fillion-led “The Rookie” will begin its fifth at the network. Both series rank among the most-watched shows this season with averages of 10.4 million viewers for “The Good Doctor” and 9.4 million for “The Rookie”.
They join “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Station 19” and “Abbott Elementary” which have already been renewed. ABC is also continuing to develop a “Rookie” spin-off starring Niecy Nash.
Alexi Hawley created the series and executive produces with Mark Gordon, Fillion, Michelle Chapman, Bill Norcross and Terence Paul Winter.
