Disney+ Edits Marvel’s “Falcon” Series

Nearly a year after its release, the Disney+ service has seemingly performed some self-censorship of its Marvel Cinematic Universe series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier”.

A Reddit user (via CBR) has spotted two changes with several minutes of each other in the show’s third episode “Power Broker” in scenes set around a dockyard. In one shot a dead body is no longer splattered with blood.

A few minutes later in a fight, an opponent of Bucky is hit by a pipe which now glances off her chest as opposed to the pipe going through her shoulder. The changes seem designed to make the violence in the series less graphic and appear to have been implemented worldwide.

The decision is a surprise as the edits appear to have been recent and possibly tie into the arrival of Marvel’s TV-MA rated Netflix shows on Disney+ along with the premiere today of the darker than usual Disney Marvel series “Moon Knight”. By making these changes, Disney potentially avoids concerns over the show’s appropriateness for viewers with profiles set at PG-13.

“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is currently streaming on the Disney+ service.
