Subject to closing their deals and availability, actors Joe Mantegna, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler and Paget Brewster have reportedly all agreed to come back for the “Criminal Minds” revival on the Paramount+ service.
ABC Signature will finalise the contracts and talks are now underway with the series’ longtime executive producer/showrunner Erica Messer for a potential ten-episode new season with a license agreement reached between the Paramount+ service, ABC Signature and CBS Studios.
The six actors are the majority of the show’s eight regular cast from its fifteenth and final season. One missing is Matthew Gray Gubler who has publicly moved on from the role. The other is Daniel Henney who has filming commitments to Amazon’s “The Wheel Of Time” so a guest appearance is dependent on schedule.
The deals are also non-exclusive so cast members can do major recurring roles on ongoing series and series regular parts on limited series if production does not interfere.
The series follows a group of criminal profilers who work for the FBI as members of its Behavioral Analysis Unit, using behavioural analysis and profiling to investigate crimes and find perpetrators.
The new season will be serialized for binge-driven streaming consumption and sees the team investigate a single case over ten episodes. The original series was the most-watched title on Netflix in 2021.
