More than two years after it was announced, Netflix’s planned live-action adaptation of beloved manga and anime series “One Piece” has begun production.
Netflix Geeked posted a tweet showing images of the cast including Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Mackenyu also stars as Roronoa Zoro.
Debuting in 1997, the manga follows Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat crew on their globe-trotting quest to find the legendary treasure of the former King of the Pirates – Gol D. Roger.
The first episode will be titled “Romance Dawn”. Steven Maeda will act as showrunner and executive producer on the live-action adaptation of a prolific franchise that already includes 1008 episodes of anime and 1038 chapters of the manga.
