Having made his directorial debut on the 2019 comedy “Buddy Games,” actor Josh Duhamel will return to both direct and reprise his role of Bob for that film’s sequel currently in development.

The original follows a group of six friends that reunite after a five-year hiatus to engage in a challenging set of dares and games and help lift one of their own out of depression. Olivia Munn, James Roday Rodriguez, Kevin Dillon, Dax Shepard, Neal McDonough, Sheamus and Nick Swardson co-starred in the film.

The movie was critically panned, earning just 17% on Rotten Tomatoes, but speaking with Coming Soon recently Duhamel said he expected that and it has been enough of a success they’re going again:

“We knew going in that we were going to get trashed by the critics… [People] love irreverent, hardcore, unapologetic comedy. That’s really what we try to deal with. Just try to do something that there are no holds barred. I think it [the sequel] is funnier than the first one. Of course, I’m gonna say that, but I really do. I cannot wait to get into it.”

The original was produced by WWE Studios, which is why Sheamus co-starred in it. No details as yet regarding who will produce the sequel.
