It’s official, Christopher Nolan is moving to Universal Pictures for his planned film about World War II scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer – one of the fathers of the atom bomb.
After shopping it around, Universal has managed to land “The Dark Knight” and “Inception” helmer’s next directorial effort which follows on from 2020’s “Tenet”.
Nearly all of Nolan’s films of the past two decades have been set up at Warner Bros. Pictures, with the exception of “The Prestige” at Disney and “Interstellar” which was a Warners/Paramount split.
The shift comes after Nolan, a strong advocate of the theatrical experience, spoke out last year against Warner Brothers going day-and-date on HBO Max with their 2021 releases.
