Oscar-winner J. K. Simmons is in negotiations to reprise the role of Commissioner James Gordon in the upcoming “Batgirl” for HBO Max.
Leslie Grace (“In the Heights”) scored the title role last week in the film which will see “Bad Boys for Life” filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah directing from a script by Christina Hodson.
Plot details are under wraps, but the film is targeting a 2022 release on the streamer. Simmons played the role briefly in Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” and had previously said he had hoped to do so again in the future – well it’s now happening.
He joins the likes of Neil Hamilton, Pat Hingle and Gary Oldman who’ve all played the role on screen before and Jeffrey Wright set to star in the role in Matt Reeves’ upcoming “The Batman”. Kristin Burr is producing.
