Elizabeth Banks will both star in and executive produce Warner Bros. Animation and FOX’s “Bedrock,” an adult animation project that serves as a sequel of sorts to “The Flintstones”.
The series will be set two decades after the events of the 1960s cartoon and center on a grown-up twentysomething Pebbles Flintstone (voiced by Banks).
Pebbles is beginning her own career while her dad, Fred, nears retirement. With the Stone Age giving way to an enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock find this evolution “harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.”
Lindsay Kerns (“Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous”) will write the pilot script while Banks and Max Handelman executive produce. FOX’s free streaming platform Tubi recently landed rights to the original “Flintstones” series and will begin running it on May 1st.
