It’s here. “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” is now officially online on HBO Max and on various international platforms like Sky and Binge.
The release of course has been done in the form of one single four-hour movie. That’s a different format to the originally announced plan of a four-episode limited series version.
The switch from series to movie happened a while back, and in a new interview with Deadline, Snyder explained the shift:
“Frankly, I think that there was some legal rumbling about the dividing up of a movie into four parts, and does it become a TV show, and does it void all the contracts. And I was like, look, guys, I don’t want to become…this sounds like we’re going to get in the weeds on this, and it’s a disaster, so let’s just not make legal precedent out of this movie, and I’ll just stick to my four-hour opus.”
Snyder did ultimately three days of reshoots along with additional VFX work on the film with none of the footage shot by Joss Whedon included in the new cut.
While the new film isn’t officially a part of the DCEU canon, other movies in the franchise have been in the news this week too with the “Aquaman” sequel gearing up to begin filming in the United Kingdom in June and going by the working title “Necrus” says Discussing Film.
Meanwhile Warners has released the gag reel for Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman 1984” which features everything from Gal Gadot swearing to Pedro Pascal farting.
