Compelling Pictures have closed a deal to produce and finance a feature film adaptation of “The Lincoln Lawyer” author Michael Connelly’s recent novel “Fair Warning” as a potential franchise launcher.
The murder mystery is the third in Connelly’s series of books about investigative journalist Jack McEvoy and set in the ‘wild west’ world of DNA sequence data harvesting and it being sold for profit in an industry with no oversight.
If “Fair Warning” is a success, the first two books “The Poet” and “The Scarecrow” will score adaptations. Connelly will write the screen adaptation and produce alongside Denis O’Sullivan, Jeff Kalligheri and Jeffrey Pollack.
It follows on from other screen adaptations of Connelly’s work including both the ‘Lincoln’ film starring Matthew McConaughey, the Clint Eastwood-directed “Blood Work,” and Amazon’s highly successful and acclaimed “Bosch” series.
