“Aquaman” star Jason Momoa is standing by his former co-star Ray Fisher into calling for an investigation into alleged abuse on the set of the reshoots of 2017’s “Justice League” film at Warner Bros. Pictures.
In July, Cyborg actor Fisher alleged that reshoot director Joss Whedon was abusive on set and claimed that producers Jon Berg and Geoff Johns enabled his behavior. WarnerMedia said last month it was launching an investigation into these claims.
Then the other week, Warners released a statement claiming Fisher was not co-operating with the investigation. Fisher denied this with a statement of his own and yesterday tweeted that the investigation isn’t speaking to key witnesses who gave damning statements to the studio’s own HR department – even saying they have ‘ghosted’ witnesses that have implicated former and current top level executives.
Momoa did not share any specifics about the alleged behavior in his new Instagram post, but indicates a recent report of his involvement in a “Frosty the Snowman” project being produced by Berg and Johns was allegedly leaked as a distraction just over an hour after Fisher made his allegations:
“I just think it’s f–ked up that people released a fake Frosty announcement without my permission to try to distract from Ray Fisher speaking up about the s–tty way we were treated on Justice League reshoots. Serious stuff went down. It needs to be investigated and people need to be held accountable. #IStandWithRayFisher. aloha j.”
Fisher has since responded to Momoa, tweeting: “Hopefully now people see the depths that some are willing to go to hide the truth. To think they believed my brother would sellout the cast/crew of JL for a corncob pipe and a button nose.”
Warner Bros. Pictures had no comment on Momoa’s statement. Berg has denied the claims, while Johns and Whedon have not addressed them publicly. Fisher and Momoa have close relationships with the film’s original director Zack Snyder who is now working on an HBO Max cut of his film.
