Statham, Ritchie Re-Team On “Five Eyes”

Action star Jason Statham and director Guy Ritchie are re-teaming for a fifth time for the spy thriller “Five Eyes” at Miramax and STXfilms.

Statham will portray an agent recruited by the titular global intelligence alliance to track down and stop the sale of a deadly new weapon that threatens to disrupt the world order.

Reluctantly paired with a high-tech CIA expert, he sets off on a globe-trotting mission to infiltrate the circle of a billionaire arms broker. Filming is set to commence in October in Europe.

Ritchie and Statham’s careers kicked off just over two decades ago when the worked together on “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and “Snatch,” both of which were released to great acclaim. A third team-up in 2005 with “Revolver” didn’t fare so well.

Ritchie, coming off Disney’s live-action “Aladdin” and a return to crime caper comedy with “The Gentlemen,” re-teamed with Statham for a fourth time on the upcoming “Cash Truck” currently in post-production.

Ritchie will direct and produce “Five Eyes” from a screenplay written by “Cash Truck” writer Ivan Atkinson and Marn Davies, with revisions by Ritchie. Atkinson will also produce alongside Bill Block.
