Stan Gets Peacock Content In Universal Deal

While Foxtel’s Binge has become the home of HBO Max content in Australia, the country’s largest local streaming service Stan has just announced a long-term exclusive content partnership with NBCUniversal which will essentially see it become the home of Peacock content.

The deal sees Stan become the Australian distributor of new productions from Sky Studios and NBCUniversal International Studios, content produced by Universal Studio Group for the Peacock streaming service, new DreamWorks Animation TV shows produced for Peacock, NBCUniversal’s children’s programming, scripted and unscripted content from Sky Studios, and scripted library TV series and hundreds of films from NBCUniversal’s catalog.

As a result the various Peacock series like “Brave New World,” the event series “Angelyne,” the “Punky Brewster” and “Saved by the Bell” revivals and more are all coming to Stan, as are Sky productions like “The Raid” director Gareth Evans’ new hit series “Gangs of London” and shows like “I Hate Suzie”.

The line-up joins Stan’s already robust line-up which includes much of the libraries of U.S. SVOD services Showtime, Starz and original titles from Hulu. Other services in the market include Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, the aforementioned Binge, Kayo (essentially ESPN+), 10 All Access (essentially CBS All Access), Shudder, Acorn TV, MUBI, Tubi, and Britbox later this year along with aggressive local network VOD services like ABC iView and SBS On Demand.

Stan CEO Mike Sneesby said in a statement: “This marks the first time an agreement combining series from Sky Studios, DreamWorks Animation and Peacock content produced by Universal Studio Group has been secured in Australia – the biggest new slate of premium scripted content to come to market in recent times. This landmark deal reflects the strength of NBCUniversal’s portfolio and reinforces Stan’s commitment to bring the world’s best programming to Australians through our most significant output partnership to date.”
