AMC Plans “Stay Tuned” Series Remake

AMC Studios and Morgan Creek Entertainment are developing a TV series adaptation of the John Ritter and Jeffrey Jones-led 1992 cult comedy “Stay Tuned”.

The film followed a married couple, Roy and Helen Knable (Ritter, Pam Dawber) who are unwittingly transported into their television and forced to survive an alternate universe inside a cable network literally designed for one customer – The Devil.

Jones played Mr. Spike, the network’s head programmer. The film was famed for satirising films and shows of the time and the dominance of cable – even going so far as to include a full Salt ‘N Pepa music video as part of the narrative.

“Fear The Walking Dead” co-showrunner/executive producer Ian Goldberg & writer/producer Richard Naing will write the series. The pair previously penned “The Autopsy Of Jane Doe” and Netflix film “Eli” along with working on Freeform’s “Dead of Summer”.
