Christopher McQuarrie is coming onboard the ambitious ‘Tom Cruise in Space’ action film currently in development at Universal Pictures.
A new report at Deadline has gone into the high-profile feature which has Doug Liman set to write and direct.
In the article it confirms not only is “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” writer/director McQuarrie onboard as producer but he’ll serve as story advisor and potentially contributing to the script.
Cruise, Liman and McQuarrie all previously teamed on the underrated and critically well regarded sci-fi time loop tale “Edge of Tomorrow” and Cruise has worked multiple times with both men.
The feature will be the first full-length narrative feature to be shot predominantly in space and the previously reported $200 million production budget is merely an estimate at this point.
PJ van Sandwijk is also producing the film which has NASA and SpaceX also involved.
