Veteran character actor Richard Herd has died at the age of 87 due to complications from cancer.
Herd has a long and varied film and TV career with his most notable roles including Watergate burglar James McCord in Alan J. Pakula’s “All the President’s Men,” inept New York Yankees exec Mr. Wilhelm in “Seinfeld,” Supreme Commander John in the original “V” mini-series and its sequel, Admiral Owen Paris (Tom Paris’ father) in “Star Trek: Voyager” and Secretary General Noyce in “seaQuest DSV”.
Other roles included films like “The China Syndrome,” “Planes, Trains and Automobiles,” “Get Out,” “The Mule,” “Hercules in New York,” “Gleaming the Cube,” “F.I.S.T.,” “Wolf Lake,” “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”.
He also had TV roles on “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “T.J. Hooker,” “Simon & Simon,” “Quantum Leap,” “Murder She Wrote,” “The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.,” “The O.C.,” “Everwood,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Rizzoli & Isles”. Herd also voiced numerous video games including “Bioshock Infinite” and “Fallout: New Vegas”.
Herd is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patricia Crowder Herd, along with a daughter, son and stepdaughter.
