Ridley Scott In Talks For “The Merlin Saga”

Ridley Scott is in talks to direct “The Merlin Saga” at Walt Disney Pictures along with his company Scott Free taking on producing duties.

Oscar-winning “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy co-screenwriter Philippa Boyens wrote the script based on T.A. Barron’s 1990s books which looks at the young wizard whose life began when he was left for dead and washed up on the shores of ancient Wales with no memory or name, but in possession of a mysterious power that leads him to a strange and enchanted land.

Heat Vision reports that this will be Scott’s next film, though he has his adaptation of Don Winslow’s “The Cartel” currently well into development. Scott and Gil Netter will produce.

Scott has also set his Scott Free Productions label to produce Jennifer Yee McDevitt’s action pitch “Task Force Two” for Amazon Studios. The true-life action drama is based on an article by Vince Beiser that chronicled the elite search-and-rescue team based in California.
