Lionsgate and Millennium Films have been busy this week with the release of five new posters for “Jigsaw” and a new one-sheet for “Leatherface”.
Both films are the eighth entries in their series and essentially try to resurrect the iconic horror franchises “Saw” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” respectively. In the case of “Jigsaw” it’s a sequel set years after the events of the last film with acclaimed helmers Michael and Peter Spierig directing.
“Leatherface” on the other hand goes the prequel route and is set years before the events of the original film – the early days of the infamous Sawyer family when the youngest child is sentenced to a mental hospital after a suspicious incident leaves the sheriffs’ daughter dead. Ten years later, he kidnaps a young nurse and escapes with three other inmates.
“Leatherface” will be released on DIRECTV on September 21st with a limited theatrical run and VOD release following on October 20th. “Jigsaw” opens in cinemas on October 27th.
