Netflix Rumored To Buy EuropaCorp?

EuropaCorp is reportedly in advanced talks to be purchased by streaming giant Netflix according to French media outlet Capital (via The Playlist).

The report cites unnamed sources who say EuropaCorp, founded in 2000 by filmmaker Luc Besson and Pierre-Ange Le Pogam, would be purchased outright by Netflix with Besson to stay on to oversee the creative side of the company.

EuropaCorp is responsible for the “Taken” and “Transporter” franchises along with such films as “Lucy,” “Miss Sloane” and “Valerian”. The hope is to have the deal worked out by the summer.

The rumored deal followed reports earlier this week that Apple was interested in acquiring A24, though A24 themselves shot down that rumor yesterday.
