Will Ferrell is attached to star in Netflix’s scripted film remake of the popular 2018 documentary “The Legend of Cocaine Island”.
The doco follows a small-business owner and family man who comes across the legend of a buried stash of cocaine worth $2 million hidden in the Caribbean. He soon hatches a plan to retrieve the money, using the talents of a band of colorful misfits with trouble not far behind.
Peter Steinfeld will write the script, and Ferrell will produce alongside Jessica Elbaum and David Permut. Original doco director Theo Love will executive produce.
Ferrell just completed the comedy “Eurovision” for the service, re-teaming with his “Wedding Crashers” co-star Rachel McAdams. He’ll next be seen in the “Force Majeure” remake “Downhill” at Fox Searchlight.
