Just days before its fourth season finale, Syfy has announced it has renewed its scripted drama series “Van Helsing” for a fifth and final season. A new batch of thirteen episodes will go into production early next year ahead of a late 2020 debut.
Executive producer Chad Oakes says in a statement: “We are thrilled to be able to bring the amazing Van Helsing saga to a close. This could not have been done without the support of our incredible cast, crew, Syfy, Netflix [which pays to stream the series] and Super Ecran.”
The decision to wrap arrives as Syfy continues to move away from scripted fare, its veteran “The Magicians” being its sole acclaimed series still on the air with it coming back for a fifth season next month.
