Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan and Rutger Hauer have been announced as new cast members in the Russian-Chinese fantasy adventure movie “Viy-2”.
The film is the sequel to the 2014 Russian box-office hit based on Nikolai Gogol’s horror novella and which grossed $33.2 million locally. Jason Flemyng, Charles Dance, Martin Klebba and Christopher Fairbank lead the Chinese shot $48 million sequel which is expected to be released early next year.
Flemyng plays English explorer Jonathan Green, who receives an order from Peter the Great to map the Russian Far East. The cartographer will face many breathtaking discoveries, encounter bizarre creatures, meet with Chinese princesses, and confront deadly martial-arts masters and the Dragon King.
Oleg Stepchenko helms from a script they co-wrote with Dmitry Palcev, and Alexey Petrukhin. Petrukhin will produce.
