Netflix is having fun with a new video promoting their upcoming fantasy TV series adaptation of “The Witcher” which premieres December 20th.
The show, much like the hugely popular video game franchise of the same name, is based on Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski’s celebrated novels. So they have filmed the show’s star Henry Cavill to read a passage from the first book in the series ‘The Last Wish’ with his sultry British voice and occasionally cheeky inflections.
The series focuses on monster hunters known as Witchers who develop supernatural abilities at a young age. Geralt of Rivia (Cavill) is a solitary Witcher who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.
The series also stars Freya Allan as Ciri, Chalotra as Yennefer, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Mimi Ndiweni as fledgeling sorceress Fringilla, Sabrina as Therica Wilson-Read, Adam Levy as the druid Mousesack, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson as Queen Calanthe’s husband, the knight Eist and MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, head of the magical academy.
