Actress Jodie Whittaker has officially confirmed to EW that she is set to return as The Doctor in a thirteenth season of the popular BBC series.
That would make it her third season in the role, taking her up to the same number of seasons as her immediate three predecessors David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi.
Whittaker tells the outlet she has no desire to give up the role yet:
“Yes, I’m doing another season. That might be a massive exclusive that I’m not supposed to say, but it’s unhelpful for me to say [I don’t know] because it would be a massive lie!… I absolutely adore it. At some point, these shoes are going to be handed on, but it’s not yet. I’m clinging on tight!”
The show is currently in the midst of airing its twelfth season which wraps early March.
No word if her three companions – Bradley Walsh, Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill – will return. Same goes for this season’s incarnation of The Master played by Sacha Dhawan.
