The Disney+ streaming service goes live in the United States, Canada and the Netherlands on November 12th, followed by Australia and New Zealand a week later on November 19th. However no other country launch dates have been revealed – until now.
Disney has confirmed that the service will launch on March 31st next year in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Ireland and Spain with more locations announced soon for the same date. The company is said to be aiming to get pretty much all of western Europe online by March before tackling Latin America by August next year and both the Asia Pacific and Eastern European markets in late 2021.
Meanwhile the company has finally struck a deal with Amazon so that the Disney+ service will become available on Amazon’s devices including their Fire TV streaming devices, Fire TV Edition smart TVs, and compatible Fire Tablets. Along with the dedicated apps, Fire TV will also integrate Disney Plus movies and TV show episodes in its universal search.
