Guy Ritchie (“Sherlock Holmes,” “Snatch”) has reportedly been offered the director’s chair for “Xerxes,” the sequel to “300” reports Vulture.
The film will start at the battle of Marathon a decade before Thermopylae and will cover events over the ten year span in a much more epic and complex story with Xerxes in pursuit of becoming a God.
“300” helmer Zack Snyder was previously attached to direct but his commitment to “Superman” will likely keep him busy until at least the end of 2012.
Ritchie was linked to a remake of 70’s comedy “Cannonball Run” last week, but sources say that film is “just an idea” right now and a LONG way from anything close to development.
Meanwhile, Ritchie’s upcoming anticipated sequel to “Sherlock Holmes” has scored an official title – “Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows” reports E! Online.
