BOOM Studios

After helming episodes of HBO’s “The Leftovers,” “The Penguin” and “Mare of Easttown” along with films like “Compliance” and “The Hunt,” filmmaker Craig Zobel has been set to direct a live-action feature adaptation of the comic “Something Is Killing the Children”.

James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera created the BOOM! Studios graphic novel series in 2019 and follows Erica Slaughter, a monster hunter who arrives in the small town of Archer’s Peak after children begin disappearing, to take down the creature preying on them.

Announced at New York Comic-Con yesterday during the Blumhouse panel, Jason Blum, Stephen Christy and Tynion IV will produce the film.

At the same time, Blumhouse is simultaneously developing an adult animated series version, which Tynion IV will be shepherding.

The comic title has proven the most successful original horror comic since Robert Kirkman’s “The Walking Dead,” with more than 5 million copies sold worldwide.

No word on a date for the film but it’s currently NOT on the company’s 2027 line-up which includes “River,” “The Revenge of La Llorona,” “The Exorcist: Martyrs,” “Anything But Ghosts,” “Paranormal Activity,” the new “Blair Witch Project,” “Sleepover” and “Seasons”.
